Choosing the Right Bed for YOU!

With so many different ways to shop, both online and instore, it can be hard to know if you are making the right decision and are not panic buying under pressure. One minute you can be having a discussion with your partner about a bed you like and you then have ad, after ad, after ad appearing on your Facebook news feed with different options, as if by magic. Because of this (we have all done it) we can be tempted to purchase the cheapest option we see from just a picture, however this is not always the best case and before you make any large item purchases for your home, it is always best to take all features into account. Below our team have put

together a helpful step by step guide.

Step 1 – Choosing the right size

We all love the idea of a huge 6ft bed in our room, just like in the films we see, however is this really the best option? Before you decide on style, colour and storage you first need to decide the size that would suit you, your family and your room size. At The Bedroom Shop we can make any size whether that be your traditional sizes or a bespoke made to order.  Traditional sizes are as follows;

Always remember when deciding on size to take into account walking space, empty floor space, space for any bedside tables/lamps and as silly as this may sound keep into account how much space you need to look into your favourite mirror to make sure you can check your outfit for the day!

Step 2 – Deciding what storage options

When choosing your storage options, it is important to factor into your decision the size of your bed and if selecting drawers, the space in which you can open them. The most traditional storage option is 2 or 4 drawers but the ultra-modern and, in our opinion, the most effective is Ottoman Lift up. This is a gas operated lift up system that maximises full storage of the full bed width. For our full guide on the right storage option head to our previous blog…

Step 3 – Bed Style

The next step is to decide if you want a BED-FRAME or DIVAN BASE. A divan base is more traditional featuring a solid base like the Image below and a bedframe features wooden slats beneath the mattress.

Step 4 – Colour, Fabric and Detailing

The most important step in our eyes is the final look of the bed as this is what you sleep and see each and every day and you want to feel happy about it. There are a number of different options, sometimes too many options so once you have decided Fabric, Metal or Wooden the colour is most important. With metal and wooden the options are usually quiet simple with traditional white, cream, oak, black and walnut for wooden beds or black, rose gold, silver and white for metal. Fabric Beds are what you usually have the most options and flexibility with as you have fabric options, colour options and detailing options.

                For each fabric option, the colour options are usually the same however they can look completely different as they range from Chenille, Crushed Velvet, Velvet, Plush & Leather. Below we have just SOME of our most popular colour choices with new colours continually added…

The final selection in Step 4 is to decide on your detailing options. When choosing a divan bed with headboard the choice is yours in terms of headboard design and dependant on the headboard you decided you also have a choice of Buttons or Diamonds. With fabric beds, once you have decided on which style you would like, you can decide which fabric and if you would like buttons or diamanté’s. Please see below some examples but remember if you can’t find what you’re looking for, we make almost any bed, size, design or any colour;

We hope this blog has been able to assist in some way to help select the right bed for you. Our team are on hand to talk almost 24hours a day, 7 days a week via email, telephone or Facebook should you need any more guidance on your journey to finding a bed that is perfect for you…
