BEWARE OF MATTRESS SCAMS IN MANCHESTER
For years across the country rogue traders have been door knocking and selling “mattresses” from the back of vans. The famous lines from across the different regions include “quality memory foam mattress at bargain prices” by extremely convincing ‘Sales/Delivery Men’. The outfit of the rogue traders is usually quite standard and when thought about quite predictable as they usually drive a white or silver van with company logo etched across and are dressed in company polos.
They always spin very believable and very tempting tales regarding cancelled orders, surplus stock or ex-show home displays and claim orders should have been £700/£800 but they can do you for £150-£300. Of course we all like a bargain and we take pride in boasting of the savings we have made but is it really worth the risk of having somebody’s used mattress of 10 years+.
The advice from the National Bed Federation is not to buy a mattress from these types of traders and to only buy from reputable retailers and internet companies that you’ve either heard of or can check customer reviews. Ask yourself whether any reputable business would be selling mattresses in this manner, using underhand techniques to persuade people in an opportune way?
